We had their meal for two - I think it was called their " happy meal". In any case we ordered the walnut shrimp and the moo goo gai pan. Both were excellent an the quantity allowed us to have another meal from the take home bag. The soup could have been a meal in itself. The waiter carefully explained that our food would take some time due to every thing being prepared as it was ordered. He was very attentive. The only negative was the fact that the booths were torn and worn. All in all, a great meal.

I am from China but have lived in this country for 25 years. Even though I prefer authentic Chinese food, I like many dishes in Americanized Chinese restaurants as well, such as hot and sour soup, chicken with broccoli, and fried rice. My family went to this restaurant a few weeks ago when we drove by the area, due to good reviews on Yelp. It was the worst food I have ever had in a Chinese restaurant. Everything was so salty that I actually dipped my food in ice water before eating it. I didn't send anything back because who knows what happens in the kitchen when you send food back. All our dishes were awful, even the hot and sour soup. It was so sour I quit after the first spoonful. Our waiter never came to check on how we liked the food. When I paid the bill, I told the young lady working the register everything was too salty, she said nonchalantly sorry. We paid the bill and left the waiter 20% tip because I felt sorry he worked in such an awful restaurant!

My wife and I have dined in once and had take out once, and surprisingly, when I went in for dinner, the place seemed like a "real" Chinese restaurant and the food was pretty good. Having grown up in the Houston area where you can find some of the best and most diverse varieties of Chinese food in America I have pretty low expectations for most places. Having lived in places with mediocre Chinese food I've grown used to gauging a place based on the "Panda Express Scale" or sometimes the "Pei Wei Scale." The first thing I noticed was some of the nice decor. While the dining room clearly hasn't had much attention paid to the overall appearance, there was some effort in putting up a few large, nice pieces in the entry to make the place feel special. Next, the menu actually has every menu item in Chinese next to the English. Amazing! Given that Heber Valley has maybe a 0.5% Chinese population give or take 0.1% you would think they wouldn't have even bothered with the Chinese names. Usually, if you go to a place where the menu has the Chinese names you're probably at a place that makes an effort to offer authentic styles of Chinese food. Given the name "Canton City," you might expect the food to be southern-style, or Cantonese-style cuisine (bleh...). However, everyone at the restaurant was speaking Mandarin so overall, they don't seem to be emphasizing any particular style of Chinese food. Like most places, there's a big menu with a variety of American-style dishes and a lot of lunch/dinner special meal deal stuff. As far as the food goes, I can only testify to the couple of dishes we tried, which were mostly not-so-authentic dishes like Orange Chicken and fried rice. The orange chicken was really good with nicely fried crunchy chicken and a balanced, sweet, tangy sauce, but I'm somewhat suspicious that they used MSG (I'm not positive they used it, but I had a noticeably odd feeling afterwards consistent with previous MSG experiences). But it was better than Panda Express. The hot n' sour soup was really good according to my wife who is a hot n' sour soup expert. The fried rice was just ok. Like a lot of places, the fried rice is slightly blander so you can substitute it for steamed rice with your meal. We also got a Mu shu chicken, which was just like how mu shu usually tastes except it had a lot of chicken, which wasn't a bad thing. If you're not familiar with mu shu it's basically an Asian burrito. Service was prompt and everyone was friendly. Very nice people. Overall, I'd definitely recommend Canton City as it seems quite a bit better (so far) than Park City's Szechuan and Heber's Dragon Star. Still, having had a lot of meals in Taiwan fairly recently, this place is good only by Utah standards.

If you are looking for authentic Chinese food, you are not going to find it here. We were very disappointed after seeing a 4 star rating. The walnut shrimp dish was mostly batter, shrimp were small and had no taste. The sichuan beef dish was overcooked and lacked the proper spices and taste and the sizzling chicken tasted bland like the beef dish minus the red pepper flakes. Sub-par service to boot.

DO NOT ORDER THE EGGS FOO YONG !!!!!! I did not see or taste anything that resembled eggs. However, everything else I have ever had there has been more than average. And the quantity is staggering. A lot of food for the money. The architecture of the outside alone makes this place adorable. I really don't understand why the parking lot is usually empty when I drive by, because it is decent food at a decent price with decent service?? Pretty darn good for small town Utah. Did I mention not to have the eggs foo yong ?

I am from New York, so as you might have guessed, finding quality tasting Chinese-food is next to impossible in Utah!! With that said, this is the place to go in Heber if you must feed your ethnic cravings! However, if you want Lo Mein, they refer to it as 'chow mein' in the menu. It took me a couple trips to figure this out and about $24 so... I have enjoyed the food here since they moved locations a few years ago. Prior to that, the vegetables were Del Monte canned vegetables from Smith's and I about died. I have never had a problem with the meats, appetizers or anything else. They always wrap up the to-go orders or leftovers, very well so that it actually makes it to the fridge! When you eat Chinese food in Utah, I think each person has to taste and try everything to kind of figure out what they like and dislike. So, besides the lo-mein chow-mein switch, everything else seems A-Okay! They are always super friendly and welcoming :) (Respectfully bows)

I like this place. As a native of Seattle I've tasted it all and Canton City is just wonderful. Very friendly staff, to go orders are tightly and properly wrapped, and the dine in service was excellent.

My wife and I stopped in here for lunch and were treated to a surprisingly authetic array of Chinese dishes. This restaurant seems too good to be true for a small town like Heber. The restaurant appears to be family owned and operated and our server was very hospitable. He came up to us and the end of the meal and we had a good chat. He was a very personable guy. The decor and music seem distictly Chinese. There were a number of menu options which made it difficult for us to pick but we finally settled on the lunch specials. We found these specials to be an excellent deal as they were each under $7 and came with a piping hot egg roll, ham fried rice, and a choice of soup. I strongly recommend the hot and sour soup. It had a delicious texture and the tofu was cooked just right and the carrots and seaweed was soft yet still slightly crunchy. I swapped out the rice for chow mein for an extra $1 and I ordered the orange chicken which really hit the spot. My wife got steamed rice and the cashew chicken. The nuts were very good and there was plenty of chicken and fresh peppers and celery. Overall, this place has superb, authentic Chinese food at a great price!

Good Chinese, great orange chicken. Service was fast - we dropped in and ordered more than 10 entrees and a couple of dozen egg rolls...it was ready in about 20 minutes.

Stopped while traveling through on a trip. The food was delicious. My husband had the Shrimp and Vegetables and I had the Generals Chicken. They were both very flavorful and they even reduced the amount of garlic in mine for me. The fried rice was good, not to dry which we run into a lot. The Hot and Sour soup was some of the best I have ever tasted. Very flavorful and spiced just right. The restaurant was very clean inside including the bathrooms. The parking lot was also clean. Now to the service! Very helpful, prompt and professional. We were checked on frequently and asked if our meal was okay. She also answered questions about the menu knowledgeably and had the cook staff make a change in my order to accommodate me. Definitely going back.

I love this place. I haven't been able to find anywhere in salt lake that has Chinese food this delicious so I made a special trip as I do from time to time to get some dinner. I ordered Orange Chicken dinner with egg drop soup and sesame chicken with hot and sour soup. Everything was super fresh as usual and it stayed hot till I got to salt lake to eat it. These people know me and my family by name and even came to my wedding. They are all so nice!! I will not waste my money elsewhere trying to satisfy my Chinese craving. Love them!

The sauce on my egg fu young was the same sauce on my daughter's lo mein. Guess it wouldn't matter that much if it was good, but it was very salty and had little flavor.

Ordered take-out, they didn't give me utensils or chop sticks to eat it with. Ate the food within 5 minutes. I ordered sweet & sour chicken but it was very fatty, overcooked, and just not good at all.

Chinese Cuisine

The popularity of Chinese food in America can be adjudicated by the appearance of China Town in many major cities in the United State of America. The popular trend of ordering or opting for Chinese take away food isn't unknown in America. Chinese take away food comes to rescue when you're too tired from work or too exhausted to cook. No one can resist the temptation of eating spicy noodles, shrimp, chicken, beef or pork cooked in the sweet and spicy sauce. The cooking method of authentic Chinese food is a lot different compared to what is served in America.

Generally, Chinese use dark meat small bones and organs to cook dishes but this changes when you are eating American-Chinese fusion food prepared using white boneless meat cooked with broccoli, carrots and onions. Back in China, the food is less spicy and oily as they favor steaming and braising method for cooking the most popular dishes. So, if you have a taste for authentic Chinese food, then try finding a real Chinese restaurant in the city. You can also try the most popular fusion Chinese food like Pecking Duck, Chicken Feet, Hot Pot, Shrimp Dumpling Soup, Mapo Tofu, Wontons, Chop Suey, Egg Rolls and not to forget Fortune Cookies.

There are not many restaurants in America serving authentic Chinese food. A little research on Restaurant Listings directory can help you locate the best Chinese restaurants in the city. Chinese cuisine is continuously evolving, and you can find a variety of dishes categorized as the food for lactose intolerant, gluten intolerant, vegan, vegetarian, and diabetic friendly. So, if you have a group of friends with different taste patterns, save the hassle and visit the nearest Chinese restaurant in your city.
